Have you seen Billykirk?

These guys are making the rounds right now, and rightfully so. Billykirk was named after one of the two brothers, William and Chris Kirkland, who run the company. Their vintage-inspired leatherwork looks absolutely stunning!

The story of these two is so rich, its almost difficult to decide where to start telling it (especially when you’re trying to squeeze it into a couple of paragraphs). Both have design backgrounds and knew for quite some time that they wanted to produce under the Billykirk moniker, a knickname given to William by his father. A move from Minnesota to LA landed the two near a 3rd generation leather craftsman who was kind enough to give them free run of his shop and teach them his craft. Now that Billykirk has relocated to the east coast (and grown quite a bit), they’ve been working with a group of Amish craftsmen to continue the tradition of handmade leathergoods.

Take a look at the interview on their about us page if you want the full story. It’s a great read and offers some sincere insight into their love for the craft. Their blog also sheds some light on their personalities as well, including some pictures of their product after a few years of wear (and it only gets better with age).

I’ve personally got a hankering for their NO.156 Abstract Cuff, and their NO.166 Overnight Travel Bag has left me drooling on my keyboard. Not to mention my dire need for a new belt
