Skinny Girls. Big Sandwiches.

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Maybe it’s just my demented sense of humor. Or just the fact that it’s a Monday. But this is funny. And no, it’s not a euphemism for anything.

There seems to be an onslaught of vaguely meaningless yet inevitably funny websites cropping up. Call it a “trend” or something. I mean, we’ve all seen AwkwardFamilyPhotos.com by now, right? And, of course, Look at This Fucking Hipster (latfh.com) made the rounds recently.

Well, here’s the next one: Skinny Girls Big Sandwiches (.com).

FoodFeed - Share what you eat

FoodFeed.us

You may have noticed our recent post about What I Had For Lunch Today, our fun little Flickr project/experiment where everyone can share their lunch. Not long after that was posted, we noticed a friend Tweet a verbal version of her lunch to @having. Of course, we were intrigued and began to investigate…

A visit to @having’s Twitter profile revealed that the profile is the Twitter component of a bigger project that lives at FoodFeed.us. Similar to What I Had For Lunch Today, FoodFeed allows users to share what they’re eating simply by tweeting it to @having. If you go to the FoodFeed site, you can peruse what other people are eating or just dig back through your own meals.

The site claims that more features are in the pipeline. And, before you go looking for too much purpose behind it, they readily state that FoodFeed is

not really useful. It’s just fun. And if you can make something useful out of it, we would be happy

So go have some fun, share your food, and if you’re inclined, do what we do…post it as photos!

Its almost that time. Yes, maybe I’m jumping the gun (it’s not even Thanksgiving).. but for all those people who’s New Years resolution is to lose weight, meet TweetWhatYouEat.

It allows you to use twitter as a food diary.
By sending direct messages to TweatWhatYoueat you can keep track of what you eat, instantly. It even allows you to log calories and your weight (which I will not be doing). Then you can view your diary personally via direct messages to Tweet What You Eat.

Tweetwhatyoueat also will link your food entries to  CrowdCal, a database of foods, allowing it to automatically figure out your caloric intake.  So far all you cheaters out there, beware. TweetWhatYouEat knows.

I’m hungry today

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Yup. I’m hungry today. So when I stumbled onto Open Source Food over at SwissMiss, I couldn’t help be go explore. Mouth watering, drool-inducing recipes abound on this incredibly well-shot, easy to follow site. Despite the fact that my cooking tendencies (though not my capabilities) are generally limited to omelettes, breakfast burritos, and cereal with yogurt, this site might just tempt me to get a little more adventurous.

For some reason, I’m particularly taken by this Egg Aioli with Avocado Sandwich. Sounds taaaaaaste-eeeeee! Have a look around and point us toward your fave. Maybe we’ll potluck sometime!!
